La fumata
Dolcemente fruttato, rotondo in bocca, leggermente asciutto al palato e delicatamente pepato al naso. Una gentile e piacevole carezza palatale che gradualmente cresce in intensità di corpo e densità del fumo.
L’Year of the Rat regala note di pane, legno, sentori erbacei per poi arrivare a tè, chiodi di garofano e noce tutto piacevolmente immerso in una diffusa dolcezza di fondo. Aromi e sapori però nella parte centrale sembrano sedersi, affievolirsi malgrado permangano a lungo.
Da questa apatia generale, che stanca e intriga poco, ne esce verso la parte finale aggiungendo una spiccata nota tostata e un deciso incremento del pepe ora più avvertibile al naso. La dolcezza finora presente invece sfuma in sottofondo e si affievolisce lasciando purtroppo spazio ad una nota amara accentuata che costringe all’abbandono prima del tempo.
Un’edizione limitata i cui pregi vengono inficiati dalla sua espressività non priva di difetti. Risulta globalmente piacevole ma gli manca quello zic di gioco sensoriale per risultare davvero intrigante e all’altezza del ruolo che ricopre.
Sweetly fruity, round in the mouth, slightly dry on the palate and delicately peppery on the nose. A gentle and pleasant palatal caress that gradually grows in intensity and density.
This Year of the Rat unleashes notes of bread, wood, herbaceous hints to then arrives to tea, cloves and nut all pleasantly immersed in a diffused background sweetness. Aromas and flavors in the central part, however, seem to sit, fade despite persisted for a long time.
From this general apathy, that is boring and intrigues little, it comes out towards the final part by adding a strong toasted note and a marked increase of the pepper, now more noticeable to the nose. The sweetness so far present instead fades in the background and unfortunately leaves room for an accentuated bitter note that forces me to abandon the cigar before time.
A limited edition whose strengths are affected by its expressiveness not without defects. It is overall pleasant but it lacks a bit more sensorial play to be truly intriguing and up to the role it plays.
